The adventure begins when Shrek, a grumpy but big-hearted ogre, finds his peaceful swamp invaded by a crowd of banished, quirky fairy-tale creatures. To win back his home, Shrek strikes a deal with the proud Lord Farquaad and sets off on a daring rescue mission alongside a fiercely loyal, wisecracking Donkey. Along the way, they encounter a lovesick Dragon and rescue the fiercely independent Princess Fiona, who hides a massive secret of her own.
