CYT Lite Show: A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS!
8-12 years
Directors: Owen Minor and Taylor Wise
**Students in this class are not eligible to audition for Shrek Jr.**
We are so excited to offer a CYT Lite show as a performance opportunity for 8 to 12-year-olds! This class will be fast-paced and packed with learning as the students work toward performing the 30-minute show, A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS! Rehearsals will take place on Mondays during CYT class time from 6:00-8:00pm. This class also has one Saturday rehearsal and a Tuesday night tech rehearsal, so please look closely at the dates below. The class will perform two public performances on Thursday, October 29th.
Students will submit a vocal audition video before we begin rehearsals. Callbacks and dance auditions will be held on the first day of class. There are no parent committee requirements, although we will ask for volunteers to help with concessions and tech for the performances or any other needs that come up.
This production will use simple costumes, with some items brought from home, as well as simple sets and props.
Our goal with this class is to give our amazing students a chance to shine on stage in a low pressure environment with a much smaller commitment than a main stage show. Students who choose to participate in this Lite show are not eligible to audition for Shrek Jr.. We are looking forward to getting started on the show and hope you are excited to join us!
* There is a $100 production fee in addition to regular class tuition to cover the additional rehearsal hours, show licensing and tech needs. The total cost of the class is $375.

CHARACTERS:
- Frog: Cheerful, optimistic, and deeply caring, Frog is the confident anchor of the show who spends his year gently helping his best friend through life's little anxieties.
- Toad: Serious, easily worried, and a bit curmudgeonly, Toad is a fiercely loyal friend who wears his big emotions on his sleeve and brings a ton of comedic vulnerability to the stage.
- The Snails (Snail with the Mail): Hilariously slow, unflappable, and determined, these delivery-snails provide massive musical comedy relief as they triumphantly march across the stage to deliver a letter.
- Turtle: A playful, energetic rabble-rouser who absolutely loves to gently tease Toad and get the rest of the pond animals to join in the fun.
- Mouse: Quick-witted and sharp, Mouse acts like a tiny, enthusiastic talk-show host who asks all the right questions when the animals gather at the pond.
- Lizard: The most easily confused and spacey member of the pond trio, Lizard eventually catches on and joins the others in their lighthearted antics.
- The Birds: Acting as a musical Greek chorus, these glamorous, high-energy singers help transition the audience through the four passing seasons of the year.
- The Squirrels: Mischievous, quick on their feet, and full of chatter, these playful animals bring tons of movement and fast-paced comedic timing to the autumn scenes.
- The Moles: Quiet, sweet, and incredibly expressive, these winter-loving creatures use great facial expressions and strong choral singing to welcome the Christmas season.
