About Classes

From five-year-olds taking their first bow to teens mastering complex stage tech, CYT Tampa Bay offers a vibrant space for students (ages 5-18) to grow—both as artists and as individuals. Our 9-week sessions are designed to be the highlight of your student’s week, offering two hours of focused, small-group learning in everything from musical theater to behind-the-scenes magic.

We pride ourselves on a safe, supervised environment where "learning" is synonymous with "fun." Your student won’t just finish the session with a new skill; they’ll finish with a celebratory showcase performance that proves just how far they’ve come in their craft and their confidence.

At CYT Tampa Bay, we believe that every talent is a gift. In addition to top-tier theater arts training, we teach our students how to worship our creative God through their gifts and talents. We aren't just building better performers; we’re cultivating hearts that use their unique skills to shine a light and give glory to the Creator!

Dawn Warford

Dawn is a passionate and dedicated educator with over two decades of experience in youth ministry and Christian education. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from University of South Florida, she has a talent for engaging in faith-based programs that resonate with young people. Dawn has worked with various youth organizations, assisting in retreats, Bible studies, and summer camps, and is known for her ability to connect with students and inspire their spiritual and personal growth. Outside of her professional work, Dawn enjoys spending time with her family, the outdoors, gardening, traveling, and volunteering at her church, where she works with the middle school youth.

Lisa Woodin

Lisa Woodin grew up in Safety Harbor and is a graduate of Emory University with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Spanish and Dance. She started dance at the tender age of 3, and it quickly became a lifelong passion. She danced on her high school dance team, with the Emory Dance Company in college, and ultimately pursued a career in ballroom dance immediately after college graduation. She was a professional dancer, teacher, and studio manager in Atlanta for over 10 years. During that time she completed certification in all 10 American Style Ballroom Dances, competed Pro-Am with her students and Pro with her professional partners, received several Top Teacher awards, and even got an opportunity to have a tiny part in the very first season of Dancing with the Stars when Evander Holyfield and his professional partner Edyta Sliwinska used her studio as the backdrop for a lively practice session for their Jive. She also taught ballroom dance while living in East Tennessee before moving back to the Tampa Bay area in 2013. She currently works at NorthBay Christian Academy where she has been the Middle School Spanish Teacher for 9 years and the Ballroom Dance Teacher for 5 years.

Megan Thompson

Megan Thompson moved to the Tampa Bay Area ten years ago with her husband and four children. Her love for theater began with her grandparents, who made attending plays a special family tradition. In college, she minored in Speech, focusing her course work on the theater arts both on stage and behind the scenes. While she enjoyed performing, her favorite roles were in set design and construction as well as stage makeup. Megan enjoys working with students of all ages. She currently teaches English at Calvary Christian High School and leads the children’s program at her church. She loves watching students grow in confidence and creativity through theater and is grateful that her family is part of CYT’s Christ-centered community.

Samantha Jernigan

Samantha joined CYT Tampa Bay in it's inaugural year for their first full length production, Willy Wonka Jr. Samantha soon proved to be a vital part of the CYT community and dove head first into volunteering. She started working as the Show Coordinator in 2025. Samantha leads and organizes each CYT Tampa Bay production with zeal and tenacity. She has a passion for seeing students shine for Jesus through musical theater.

Sierra Boyea

Sierra Boyea, originally from upstate New York, graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a BFA in Dance and a BS in Kinesiology. Her stage interests do not stop there -- she is also a professional singer, an actress, musician, and seasoned lighting designer. She has performed professionally with such groups as Adirondack Liturgical Dance, Rebecca Kelly Ballet, Gleich Dances UK, and Six Flags New England, and is currently a performer with Nolan's Spectacular Productions. Sierra feels dance has always brought her closest to Jesus, and currently works as the Dance and Show Director for Classical Christian School for the Arts in Pinellas Park. She enjoys teaching her students the artistry and science of dance, and about the many connections to God we can make through music and movement! Sierra is absolutely thrilled to be the newest addition to the CYT team!
